EXIN Exams, International certification for ITIL, ASL and DSDM standards

ITSM now taught at Estacio University (Brazil)

1.6.2010

Estacio University is the first accredited university in Latin America to offer ITIL V3 courses.

São Paulo, May 2010 - From now on, students of the extent of Estacio Higher Education can follow courses in ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) V3. This novelty has recently been made possible through a partnership between EXIN and Estacio University.

One of the basic principles of ITIL V3 is to make the IT organization manageable. Following that perspective, the ITIL courses offered by Estacio, seeks to understand the key processes, relationships, benefits, challenges and the most important definitions of ITIL V3 and how these processes contribute to the management of technology in business.

"Our goal is not just preparing for certification, but also to qualify, discuss, debate and promote research within the university, and bring case studies and practical examples to the classroom," said Marcos André, coordinator of the new course, teacher and senior consultant specializing in ITSM.

Mr. André said the project has been discussed for some time with the intention of being released in conjunction with a book written in Portuguese. "All professionals who follow courses in ITIL work with handouts and this is the first time they can count on a real book that ensures the quality stamp of EXIN and Estacio University," he says. The book will be released in June 2010 by publishing company Brasport. For the teacher, and author of the book, however Brazil still focuses too much on the international content making the ITIL books feel foreign. "No university in Brazil is doing research in this direction and therefore there is no generation yet of local content and knowledge," he says.

According to Milena Andrade, regional manager of EXIN Brazil, the market will gain much from this partnership. "For EXIN this agreement with Estacio is extremely important. Students from technical courses will benefit from a formal ITIL V3 training and preparation for the international certification, matching the academic side with the demands of the professional market. We need to better prepare the future professionals that graduate from universities, improving knowledge, managerial vision and thus the employability of this new generation "she says.

Andrade says there are no prerequisites required for this training. However, it is recommended that professionals have some experience in IT or related areas. "This course is primarily aimed at managers and team members and responsible for IT processes, business managers, Projects and Applications that are directly involved with IT or any member of an IT organization involved in delivering services".

EXIN and Estacio University are also providing a seminar about ITSM in Rio de Janeiro (june 14) and São Paulo (june 16). Further information can be found at  http://www.marcosandre.com.br/gsti/
